Delta is a thought-led organisation. We think
long and hard about fundamental questions such
as:
“ What is the aim of development?”
“ How
can we foster even deeper insight in individuals
and organisations?”
“ What
are the implications of developing a leader for
the wider organisation?”
This has led us to develop three Foundation Ideas which inform our work.
Individual and Organisational Development
Why separate the two? Develop a leader and you will almost certainly change organisational culture, values and ethics. Change organisational structure and people develop different ways of working together.
Integral development treats the individual and the group together and looks at both internal and external issues.
Leadership Development
Drawing on a number of thinkers we believe leadership can become “unbalanced” by concentrating on one aspect of the developmental journey. There are four basic directions for development: Aspirations; Functional Skills and Knowledge; Values; Behaviour and its effects.
These three ideas inform our unique approach to development issues. We address the individual’s journey in all its aspects while integrating both the individual and organisational aspects of development
Emergent Organisations
Very simply, organisations have been moving from traditional hierarchies, through matrices to performance networks. Development work is hugely influenced by the context in which it takes place. Performance networks are self-organising structures that use natural intelligence and resources to “emerge” a structure to meet current and future needs. Performance networks are the structure which best reflect our approach to individual and organisational change and offer huge benefits in a culture where flexibility and speed of response are at a premium.
